Misc. objects
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
American, born Germany. 1886–1969
n.d.
A small group of everyday items gathered and preserved in the Mies van der Rohe Archive—an archival assemblage of miscellaneous objects (various materials) that the architect collected as source material for his work.
By keeping ordinary objects, Mies made visible how close attention to material, detail, and proportion fed his modernist practice, revealing the concrete, tactile sources behind his spare architectural language.
