Untitled
Bernd Ribbeck
German, born 1974
(2007)
A small ink-on-paper drawing in which Ribbeck layers translucent washes and taut, arching lines to distill architectural rhythms into a luminous, abstract space.
At first glance you see nested, cathedral-like arches traced in crisp dark strokes set against soft, overlapping planes of pastel wash and cutting diagonal lines that give the composition a fragile, luminous depth.
By marrying the immediacy of ink drawing with painterly transparency and architectural motifs, the piece ties modernist geometric abstraction to drafting traditions and expands how space and light can be suggested on paper.
