A small-scale installation in which a carousel slide projector continuously loops eighty-one 35mm black-and-white slides onto a miniature Plexiglas screen to test how projected light can be experienced as a physical object.
The modest projector sits on a plinth, while a tiny flickering rectangle of light on the smoked Plexiglas reads like a luminous, almost sculptural plane that slices the surrounding space.
An early experiment by McCall that treats projection itself as sculptural material, anticipating his later 'solid light' films and contributing to expanded cinema and light-based installation practices.
