The Weak Bullet

The Weak Bullet

Tony Oursler
American, born 1957
1980
A color video with sound in which Tony Oursler assembles disembodied images and eerie audio into a looping, dreamlike sequence that unsettles and probes the psychological effects of media and technology.
An orange, window‑like rectangle glows against a cavernous black‑green void while neon‑pink filaments and smeared, painterly washes of color drift and pulse like intrusive thoughts across the screen.
As an early video piece, it helped push video beyond documentation into sculptural, performative, and psychological territory, paving the way for immersive multimedia installations that use projected faces and voices as material.
