Untitled from The Tower of Terror Studies
Cady Noland
American, born 1956
1994
A precise pencil study on translucent drafting paper in which Noland maps out a measured arrangement of horizontal rails and evenly spaced circular posts, proposing a barricade‑like structure.
Its spare, architectural lines and repeated circular nodes read like an industrial schematic, while the artist's penciled measurements, notes, and torn paper edges give it a work‑in‑progress, forensic presence.
Part of Noland's investigation into structures of control and American spectacle, this study makes visible her process and helped translate architectural, diagrammatic drawing into the language of conceptual installation art.
