Untitled (for Parkett no. 86)
Carol Bove
American, born Switzerland 1971
2009
A small multiple in brass and mixed media that suspends a rusted, honeycomb‑like metal fragment within a rectangular frame to explore balance, fragility, and the shift from industrial scrap to object of display.
The bright, precise brass rectangle makes the corroded hexagonal mesh appear to float—its ragged edges, tiny hanging chains, and irregular surface transforming a familiar fence pattern into an intimate, fragile presence that rewards close looking.
By isolating and framing a found industrial fragment, Bove carries forward postminimal and found‑object traditions—foregrounding materiality, negative space, and the sculptural politics of display while asking how everyday detritus is made meaningful.
