Still from Disappearing Music for Face

A gelatin silver print showing a cropped, duplicated film still of a woman's mouth, made by Mieko Shiomi to turn a fleeting cinematic fragment into a minimal score for perception and time.
You first notice the doubled, grainy close-ups of lips divided by a soft horizontal seam, while visible film sprocket holes and borders insist you read it as both image and object.
Linked to Fluxus experiments of the 1960s, it collapses film, photography, and musical ideas into a single work that exposes media's material traces and invites the viewer to "listen" with their eyes.
