Announcement for a series of lectures on Italian Futurism to be delivered by Il'ia Zdanevich at the Fantastic Tavern in Tiflis
Ilia Zdanevich
French and Georgian. 1894–1974
1918
A letterpress poster printed by Ilia Zdanevich to announce four public lectures on Italian Futurism in Tiflis, intended to rally interest in and spread avant-garde ideas.
The rough brown paper and emphatic Cyrillic typography—large, uneven headlines stacked over smaller explanatory lines—reads like a shouted proclamation, urgent and unpolished.
As a 1918 ephemeral handbill, it shows how Futurism moved beyond Italy, using inexpensive printed matter to stage public encounters, disseminate radical aesthetics, and weave international avant‑garde networks.
