Untitled 2 (Sin título-2)
Guillermo Kuitca
Argentine, born 1961
1997
A lithograph and etching in which Guillermo Kuitca reconfigures theater seating plans into a floating, warped diagram that uses numbered seat-rows to turn an architectural blueprint into a meditation on absence and displacement.
You first notice dozens of tiny, numbered rectangles arranged in curved tiers that ripple, overlap, and skew like a distorted topographical map or an empty auditorium rendered as a precise, ghostly diagram.
Working from plans, maps, and theatrical layouts, Kuitca transforms institutional floorplans into poetic visual metaphors that probe memory, migration, and how shared spaces are imagined, abandoned, and remembered.
