Announcement card for Le proche et le lointain, Domaine de Kerguéhennec, Bignan, France, January 31–March 21, 2004
Aleksandra Mir

2004
An invitation card printed with Aleksandra Mir’s photograph of the snow‑covered Domaine de Kerguéhennec, made to announce the exhibition while nudging viewers to think about the ties between nearness and distance.
The first thing you notice is the hushed geometry—the dark, still pool edged in snow in the foreground and the long peach‑colored building receding under a pale winter sky—so the estate reads like a memory or a staged tableau.
As a piece of ephemera that doubles as an artwork, the card shows how contemporary artists turn exhibition publicity into a medium for exploring perception, site, and the ways images mediate proximity and remoteness.
