A gelatin silver photograph in which Rong Rong stages a reclining figure within a tatami-like interior to probe memory, stillness, and the porous border between body and landscape.
What first arrests you is the hushed contrast—the figure’s languid pose on the textured floor framed by tall, luminous window panels that reveal a snow-covered stand of pines, folding intimate interior quiet into a vast, pale exterior.
Using careful staging and classical black-and-white printing, this work links contemporary Chinese photography to a poetic, cinematic lineage that collapses private narrative and landscape and expands ways of visualizing place and identity.
