Dear Data: Week 38 (Negative Thoughts / A Week of Negative Thoughts-Pessimism)

Two postcard-sized, hand-drawn data visualizations in ink, marker, and colored pencil in which Giorgia Lupi records a week of “negative thoughts,” translating emotional experiences into marks, counts, and connections exchanged as part of the Dear Data project.
You first notice playful, teardrop- or petal-shaped colored marks clustered like tiny floral constellations across the top panel and, below, stacked eye‑like ovals arranged into a triangular pile and a smaller cluster along a thin baseline, the whole page feeling intimate, meticulous, and hand-made.
As part of the Dear Data exchange, this piece demonstrates how hand-drawn information design can render subjective inner life legible and poetic, helping popularize a human-centered approach to personal data and storytelling.
