A watercolor and ink on paper in which the artist assembles concentric, diagramlike circles into a cosmic, mandala‑like image, aiming to translate inner visions and symbolic systems into exacting, repetitive linework.
You first notice a large central ring of hypnotic hatching surrounded by smaller target‑like discs rimmed in red and turquoise, all linked by layered gray loops and delicate, tiny handwritten scripts along the top and bottom, the whole set against warmly stained paper that gives the drawing a lived, archival feel.
Made in 1964, the work bridges scientific diagram and mystical map—part of a midcentury exploration of inner cosmologies—showing how precise draughtsmanship can render psychic experience and helping to connect Surrealist vision, folk ornament, and modernist abstraction.
