Studies for an Antifascist Memorial
Bogdan Bogdanović
Serbian, 1922–2010
1960–1970
A small ink study on translucent mylar in which Bogdan Bogdanović experiments with abstract, calligraphic forms as proposals for an antifascist memorial.
You first notice a dense, purple, almost sculptural mass of looping, dripping strokes held inside a roughly drawn square, the translucent mylar causing edges and overlaps to shimmer like a faint ghost-image against the white ground.
This intimate study shows how Bogdanović translated political memory into monument design—bridging drawing, sculpture, and architecture to propose expressive, nonliteral memorials for postwar remembrance.
