Project for a Painted Wall, Fox Department Store, Hartford, Connecticut (Perspective)

A gouache-on-photograph proposal for a painted mural on the Fox Department Store, showing how the artist imagined enlivening a plain urban wall with bold, geometric pattern.
A crisp red-and-white chevron block and tiny pastel rooftop motifs are set against a grainy, motion-blurred black-and-white city photograph, so the painted geometry seems to float and energetically puncture the otherwise anonymous skyline.
It exemplifies late-1960s experiments in which artists and architects used photographic mock-ups and Pop-influenced graphics to argue that bold, site-specific painting could transform commercial facades and everyday urban experience.
