Nara Convention Hall Project, Nara, Japan, Perspective
Yoshito Takahashi
Japanese, born 1962
1992
A conceptual perspective for a proposed convention hall, realized as a computer-generated print subtly overpainted with airbrush to convey the architect’s spatial intentions and atmosphere.
Delicate, wirelike lines map out overlapping planes and staircases that recede to a distant vanishing point, while soft washes of mauve and slate lend the schematic a luminous, dreamlike depth.
It illustrates the 1990s shift to hybrid representation—melding digital precision with hand-applied techniques—to make architectural ideas both legible and emotionally persuasive, bridging traditional drafting and computational design.
