An inkjet print on linen that stages a solitary figure in a canoe amid a drifting carpet of clothing, asking us to confront displacement, memory, and environmental or political catastrophe.
What strikes you first is the vivid red of the figure against the cool, glassy water and the uncanny, quilt‑like spread of garments that float toward the boat, creating an eerie, ritualized stillness.
Belmore brings Indigenous performance and photographic practice together to turn a single, cinematic image into a public act of remembrance that makes visible histories of loss, colonial violence, and ecological crisis.
