The Association, Along Comes Mary, Quicksilver Messenger Service

1966
An offset-lithograph concert poster by Wes Wilson that uses sinuous, hand-drawn typography and bold color to advertise a 1966 San Francisco rock bill while conjuring the psychedelic experience.
Red, flame-like letters coil and swell into an organic, totemic mass against a flat olive-green field, so stretched and compressed that the words become a kinetic image you feel more than read.
Wilson helped invent the psychedelic poster’s visual language, turning type into expressive imagery that blurred design, art, and popular culture and reshaped how music was marketed in the 1960s.
