A large printed poster (linocut and letterpress) in which the designer pares language and form to a skeletal typographic grid to announce a Basel exhibition of modern painting.
A deep, almost luminous indigo field gradually yields a constellation of pale‑blue, geometric letterforms—thin, evenly weighted strokes and tight line breaks that make the words read like an architectural drawing rather than decorative text.
An exemplar of Swiss modernist graphic design, it shows how rigorous typography and visual restraint turned type into both information and image, influencing international standards for clear, rational visual communication.
