Untitled
Blinky Palermo
German, 1943–1977
1973
A restrained tied portfolio containing two lithographs and a screenprint by Blinky Palermo, whose austere cardboard-and-cloth cover intentionally reduces presentation to a minimal object so attention falls on the works inside.
You first notice a wide, speckled gray board pierced only by a vertical strip of deep blue cloth at the left, blue corner reinforcements, and a thin black tie at the right—an exercise in quiet geometry and tactile contrast.
This understated object reflects Palermo’s engagement with Minimalist and conceptual strategies of the 1960s–70s, collapsing distinctions between support, framing, and artwork and showing how modest materials can reshape how prints and paintings are presented and perceived.
