An etching with drypoint and chine collé in which Puryear translates a sculptural, ribbed, biomorphic form into a drawn ‘wireframe,’ probing volume, craft, and the logic of making.
Spare black contour lines sweep over a warm, textured ground to map a rounded, hood‑like mass and a tapering funnel, while a small red geometric sketch floats in the corner, so the image reads like a working diagram of a three‑dimensional object.
The work bridges drawing and sculpture—recasting armature, woodworking, and vernacular craft as minimalist diagram—to reveal the hidden structures and material thinking that underlie modern and traditional making.
