Equestrian Opulator (Supplement I)
Paul Etienne Lincoln
British, born 1959
1993
A slim pamphlet in which Paul Etienne Lincoln uses the modest form of an illustrated booklet to stage a conceptual, catalogue-like meditation on equestrian themes.
The tall, narrow pale-yellow cover is spare and quiet, centered by a small rectangular label in classical type that reads like a specimen tag and gives the object an intimate, archival presence.
Part of the artists’ book and conceptual-print tradition, it shows how careful publication design can itself be the artwork—blurring catalogue, joke, and archival study to expand what printed matter can make visible.
