Kontroll a Bizottsag elott (Bizottsag under Kontroll)
András Wahorn
Hungarian, born 1953
c.1982
András Wahorn’s lithograph poster advertises a concert while staging an encounter with authority, turning the idea of “control” into a dramatic, graphic spectacle.
You first notice the repeated black head silhouettes cut by a slanted red beam and topped with jagged yellow lightning‑crowns, the flat, high‑contrast colors and diagonal rhythm giving the image an aggressive, pop‑Constructivist punch.
Made in early‑1980s Hungary, it repurposes Soviet visual motifs for underground music and ironic critique, exemplifying how Eastern European designers used bold poster art to comment on politics and culture.
