Formmutation I, project

A graphite-on-paper conceptual sketch by Wolf D. Prix that experiments with a “form mutation,” probing a shifting, wing‑like architectural idea to explore motion, load, and tectonic expression.
You immediately notice a dense, hatched core of diagonal strokes that seems to surge across the page, its frenetic, radiating lines balanced by thin horizontal guides that read like a frozen instant of movement and structural inquiry.
Dating from the early 1980s, this drawing exemplifies the Viennese radical approach to architecture—using the sketch as a generative tool to imagine buildings as dynamic transformations and helping to pave the way for deconstructivist and later parametric design strategies.
