A low, diagonal view focuses on deep eaves and a timber veranda hovering above a rock-strewn pond, where repeating beams, sliding shōji-like panels, and the water’s reflections create a quiet, rhythmic composition punctuated by the unexpected presence of tall masonry buildings behind the garden.
The poster helped introduce postwar American audiences to Japanese domestic design through a modernist lens and demonstrates how architectural photography and museum promotion shaped mid‑century taste and understanding of international design.
