Facundo de Zuviría
Argentine, born 1954
1987
A chromogenic print in which Facundo de Zuviría frames a painted coffee-cup decal on a café window to fuse sign, reflection, and interior into a quiet study of everyday urban life.
Your eye is first arrested by the flat, bluish cup stuck to the glass, which floats crisply against a sun-warmed, softly focused interior where chairs, curtains, and reversed storefront lettering blur and overlap like layered planes.
By elevating a commonplace shop decal and its reflected surroundings into a carefully composed image, the work joins a late-20th-century photographic interest in finding pictorial drama and social meaning in commercial signage and transient urban moments.
